Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies pick

The 16-4 Minnesota Timberwolves head down to Memphis for a matchup with the Grizzlies, who enter this game at 6-14.

The Timberwolves are favored by 5.5 points on BetMGM Sportsbook and that feels about right. Memphis has been playing a bit better, but Minnesota is playing really good basketball.

It all starts on the defensive end for the Timberwolves. Minnesota leads the NBA in points allowed per game (105.3 PPG) and opponent field goal percentage per game (42.7%), and it is hard to beat a team when it defends at that level. The Timberwolves have plenty of offensive answers as well with Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns leading the scoring charge, while the rest of the lineup fills in the gaps.

The Grizzlies are playing better than their record would indicate since they’ve won three of four, but they still don’t have the horses to beat Minnesota. Desmond Bane, who dropped 49 points against the Pistons on Wednesday, is playing great (25.1 PPG) and Jaren Jackson Jr. has done a good job as a second scorer, then the scoring production is far less reliable. Memphis’s role players will need to step up to win tonight, and that’s a tough ask.
