EPT Paris: Lexy Gavin-Mather Gives the Inside Scoop on Her New Poker Strategy Book

The 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris has attracted a huge swathe of poker’s most notable names. Chris Brewer, Jesse Lonis and Byron Kaverman are just some of the crushers to have made the trip across the Atlantic and also among the flock of talented Americans who’ve journeyed to France is poker pro and coach Lexy Gavin-Mather, who has been making her mark in the vlogging space.

Initially a cash game player for the majority of her career, Gavin-Mather has turned her attention to poker tournaments for the last few years. With more than $600,000 in live earnings, Gavin-Mather has picked up a thing or two when it comes to multi-table tournaments and has now condensed the wisdom of her time at the tables into her latest project.

The latest venture for Gavin-Mather has seen her become a published author, having penned the new poker bookMastering Small Stakes No-Limit Tournaments, which is now available to pre-order. The RunGood Poker Series ring winner sat down to PokerNews to give the inside scoop to her book, along with tips for getting into the content space and her return to the EPT.

Mastering Small Stakes No-Limit Tournaments is Great for Beginners

“I took a lot of snippets of players who I consider masters in the space,”

Gavin-Mather described the process of writing her book as a long process but one that’s been an amazing journey.

Catering for the beginner/intermediate player, Mastering Small Stakes No-Limit Tournaments dives into her personal stories and experiences at the poker table and is filled with plenty of poker strategy for readers to sink their teeth into.

“It starts a little bit more beginner and then goes into some more advanced concepts. I think it’s just great,” said Gavin-Mather. “I took a lot of snippets of players who I consider masters in the space, and I just actually learned a lot while writing this book because of the research and study. So much so that I actually won a small stakes tournament as I was writing the book.”

The book offers a strong fundamental strategy for small-stakes tournament play, highlighting profitable adjustments as needed. It’s designed to be an invaluable resource for those regularly participating in such tournaments and will help refine your game and give you the tools to become a tournament crusher.

Coming Soon: EPT Paris Vlogs

Gavin-Mather has also had her camera out throughout EPT Paris, having documented her runs in the 1,100 FPS Main Event and 5,300 EPT Main Event for her YouTube channel and offered some advice for those looking to get into content creation.

“I think my biggest tip for people that are trying to get into content creation is to just pull the trigger and do it because that’s the hardest part, is putting out that first video, that first vlog, because it’s a very vulnerable feeling to put yourself out there like that and you don’t have to make sure it’s perfect.

“You’re going to have you’re going to make mistakes in the beginning, and you’re going to learn along the way. So I would say just go for it. Just put out your first piece of content and then every video that you make after that, just try and improve upon it.”

Returning to the EPT

Gavin Mather’s jaunt to Paris also marks her return to the EPT, a tour she has not been present at for over a decade, and she’s thrilled to be once again competing on the iconic blue felt.

“It’s so good to be back playing and even playing with PokerStars because I actually used to play a lot online. That’s actually all I did. I would mass multi-table on PokerStars for the first five years of my poker career, and I would travel to the epic stops where I would always play cash, so I wanted to get in the mix. I wanted to play the tournaments, and I’m so glad that I did because I’m having a blast.”
